consciousness. the ground of all being

for centuries, humanity has sought the divine—god in christianity, brahman in vedanta, the absolute in islam. often imagined as distant and all-powerful, the divine is seen as something apart from us. but what if it's not out there at all? what if it's closer than your breath? what if it's the awareness in which all experience arises?

the nature of divine omniscience

if the divine is all-knowing, it doesn’t just suggest infinite knowledge. it points to infinite awareness, a boundless consciousness beyond time, space, and self. vedanta calls it brahman. buddhism speaks of the luminous ground of mind. in islamic mysticism, it’s nūr al-ghayb, the unseen light. in mystical christianity, it's the kingdom within.

the message across traditions: divinity is not a being with awareness, it is awareness.

the illusion of separation

we tend to identify with thoughts, emotions, and roles, mistaking ourselves for the content of experience instead of the awareness behind it. that’s the great veil: seeking god while overlooking the very consciousness that makes seeking possible. as ramana maharshi said, "the self is not found in objects, but in the subject—the pure 'i' before it becomes 'i am this or that.'"

realization isn’t about gaining something new. it’s about noticing what’s already here. when thought falls silent, what remains? a quiet, luminous presence. not your awareness. the awareness. impersonal. universal.

can we stop striving for some far-off enlightenment and simply rest in what’s already present?

can the ordinary walking, eating, working be recognized as sacred when seen through the lens of divine awareness?

if all beings arise in the same field of consciousness, how could we meet one another with anything less than love?

as the upanishads say, "tat tvam asi" (you are that). the divine isn’t a distant parent in the sky. it’s the very fabric of your being. whether you call it brahman, allah’s nūr, or christ consciousness.

to rest in this knowing is to stop the search and begin the dance of life, fully awake.
